Works on the Quad Ultimate CX, CX-W and Duo 5200 Ultimate. For the buttons in each game, see your device’s Game controls.
Copy games onto the device
Arcade and Atari games aren’t included — you add the files yourself. Use only files you’re entitled to use. Arcade and Atari games share one USB drive on the device, called ARCADE ROMS.
- Step 1. On the device, choose Arcade Games or Atari Games (from the start-up menu, or hold Yellow + Menu). If there are no games yet, the No games yet screen appears — choose ROM Drive. Otherwise, select ROM Drive (USB) at the end of the game list. The device restarts as a USB drive.
- Step 2. Connect the device to your computer. A drive called ARCADE ROMS appears.
- Step 3. Copy your game files onto the drive. Folders are fine.
- Step 4. Eject the drive on your computer (Windows: right-click the drive → Eject; Mac: drag it to the Trash), then press Menu on the device.
Your games stay on the drive when you update the firmware.
Arcade games
Thirteen classic arcade games run from the original arcade ROM files:
The arcade uses the MAME ROM set for each game — the parent set, non-merged. Copy these zip files exactly as named:
| Game | ROM file |
|---|---|
| Pac-Man | puckman.zip |
| Ms. Pac-Man | mspacman.zip |
| Galaga | galaga.zip |
| Frogger | frogger.zip |
| Donkey Kong | dkong.zip |
| Donkey Kong Jr. | dkongjr.zip (US) or dkongjrj.zip (Japan) |
| Dig Dug | digdug.zip |
| Space Invaders | invaders.zip |
| Pooyan | pooyan.zip |
| Time Pilot | timeplt.zip |
| Xevious | xevious.zip |
| Super Cobra | scobra.zip |
| Scramble | scramble.zip |
- A game appears in the list once its zip is on the drive.
- A game listed in red has the wrong ROM set — select it to see which file is missing or wrong.
- Renamed files are still found, by their checksum.
- Hold Menu for 1 second to leave a game. High scores are saved then, and kept across firmware updates.
Atari games
The device can be an Atari 400/800/XL/XE computer and an Atari 5200. It runs these files:
| Kind of game | Files |
|---|---|
| Atari 400/800/XL/XE programs | .xex, .com, .exe |
| Atari 400/800/XL/XE cartridges | .car, .rom, .bin |
| Atari 5200 cartridges | .a52 (also 5200 .bin, .rom and .car files) |
| Disk images | .atr, .xfd (read only) |
| Zip files | one game per zip, holding any of the above |
- The Atari operating systems are built in (AltirraOS), so no Atari ROM files are needed. Optionally, copy your own ATARIOSB.ROM (400/800), ATARIXL.ROM (XL/XE) or 5200.ROM onto the drive and they are used instead.
- Rename a 5200 cartridge to .a52 so it always starts on the 5200.
- Arcade zips on the same drive are left out of the Atari list.
- In the Atari game list, Settings → Controller test shows every control live.
