Release notes
Duo 5200 Ultimate H1 1.2 — October 31, 2026
iCode Duo 5200 Ultimate USB - Version 1.2 H1
New: play Atari 5200 and Atari 8-bit computer games on the built-in display, with your own 5200 controllers
Atari Games — NEW in 1.2
- An Atari 5200 — and an Atari 400/800/XL/XE computer — on the built-in display. Pick Atari Games from the start-up menu or the Games menu (Yellow + Menu). The Atari operating systems are built in, so no Atari ROM files are needed.
- Play with your 5200 controllers. Both ports work: the analog stick, Fire A (bottom) and Fire B (top), and the keypad with START, PAUSE and RESET. The navigation stick stands in for controller 1's stick while you move it. White = START, Black = PAUSE; hold Menu to return to the game list.
- Computer games too. In 400/800/XL/XE games the controllers are joysticks, the keypad digits are number keys, and Blue opens an on-screen keyboard with the Atari's keys.
- Bring your own games. 5200 cartridges (.a52 .bin .rom), computer programs (.xex .com .exe), cartridges (.car .rom .bin) and disk images (.atr .xfd), or zips holding one, copied onto the same ARCADE ROMS drive as the arcade games — folders are fine. Arcade zips are left out of the Atari list. Games are not included.
- Settings for the keyboard, FPS display, volume, default machine, TV system (NTSC or PAL), and a controller test that shows both 5200 controllers live.
Start-up Menu & Games Menu (NEW)
- A start-up menu at power-up. Choose Game Adapter, Arcade Games, Atari Games or Built-in Games. The starred default starts by itself after 8 seconds; press Yellow, Blue, left or right to make the highlighted item the default. Turn the menu off, or change the default, under Start-up Menu and Start-up Default in the General settings.
- A new Games menu with Arcade Games, Atari Games and Built-in Games — Iron Dome, Brick Bash and Jaw Cruncher now have their own submenu. Open it with Yellow + Menu, or with Games at the top of the main menu.
- No games yet? If the ROM drive is empty, a help screen explains how to add games, with a QR code to icode.com/help/duo5200, and opens the ROM drive for you.
- Faster start-up. The logo, version and registration screens are gone: the start-up menu shows the USB mode and version (for example Classic - v1.2), and an unregistered Duo 5200 shows a reminder after your first pick and at the bottom of the main menu.
- Atari 8-bit is now Atari Games everywhere in the menus.
Good to Know
- Settings and presets are reset by firmware updates — save them to your iCodeHub Vault before updating and reload them afterward. Arcade ROMs, Atari games and arcade high scores are kept.
- Open source: Atari Games (atari800 + AltirraOS) and Arcade Games are GPLv3, source at github.com/alijani1/Pico2Atari8 and github.com/alijani1/Pico2Arcade.
Duo 5200 Ultimate H1 1.1 — September 30, 2026
iCode Duo 5200 Ultimate USB - Version 1.1 H1
Arcade games on the built-in display, Atari Gamestation Pro support, and Joy-Con mapping
Arcade Games (NEW)
- Six classic arcade games — Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Galaga, Frogger, Donkey Kong, and Dig Dug — on the built-in display. Open Mini-Games (Yellow + Menu) and pick Arcade Games.
- Play with your 5200 controller. The Port 1 controller's analog stick steers and its fire buttons fire; the navigation stick and the colored buttons work too. White = Start, Black = Coin; hold Menu to return to the game list.
- Bring your own ROMs. Select ROM Drive (USB) in the game list, copy the MAME ROM zips onto the ARCADE ROMS drive, eject, and play. ROMs are not included.
- ROM check. Each zip is checked against the supported ROM set; a wrong or incomplete set is listed in red and tells you which file is missing or wrong.
- Saved high scores. Each game's high-score table is saved when you leave the game (hold Menu) and restored the next time you play — and kept through firmware updates, along with your ROMs.
- Landscape or portrait, with volume and an FPS display in the game list.
Atari Gamestation Pro Support (NEW)
- New Classic 2 USB mode. Select Classic 2 in USB Emulation and the Atari Gamestation Pro treats the adapter like its own joystick.
- Setup tip: set Function to D-Pad so the 5200 stick works as a joystick. Mouse and keyboard output are turned off automatically in this mode.
Improvements & Fixes
- Joy-Con mapping. The navigation stick's Up, Down, Left, Right and Click can now be mapped in the new Joy-Con section of Duo 5200 Buttons (default: D-pad and Button 0).
- Menu button fix. The gray Menu button no longer sends a stray Up input to the game — it only opens and closes the menu.
- Registration address. The registration reminder now shows the correct address, hub.icode.com.
Good to Know
- Settings and presets are reset by firmware updates — save them to your iCodeHub Vault before updating and reload them afterward. Arcade ROMs and high scores are kept.

iCode Duo 5200 Ultimate USB - Version 1.0 H1
Initial release — two native Atari 5200 controller ports in one USB adapter
Two Native Atari 5200 Ports
- Plug your 5200 controllers straight in. Two built-in 15-pin Atari 5200 ports — no coupler or extra hardware needed.
- Two full controllers at once. Both ports run a complete 5200 controller at the same time: analog stick, Fire A, Fire B, Start/Pause/Reset, and the full 12-key keypad on both ports.
- Flexible port setup. Run both ports together, or set the adapter to Port 1 Only or Port 2 Only for a single player.
Supported Controllers
- Atari 5200 Handheld Controller (CX-52) — analog stick through the jitter-free pipeline, independent Fire A and Fire B, Start/Pause/Reset, and all 12 keypad keys, each remappable to any gamepad button, direction, or keyboard key.
- Atari 5200 Trackball (CX-53) — smooth X/Y tracking with adjustable sensitivity and acceleration, usable as a gamepad, a USB mouse, or both at once.
- Auto Center for the trackball. Turns the CX-53 into a stick-style controller for games like Asteroids, Space Invaders, Galaga, and Defender, with six speed levels set per port.
Display, Controls & Extras
- Large color display with real-time animated controller views of your stick, keypad, and fire buttons.
- On-device controls. A thumbstick drives the menus, and six programmable device buttons each support up to 3 actions with rapid fire.
- Built-in mini-games — Iron Dome, Brick Bash, and Jaw Cruncher — with sound through the built-in speaker, playable with your 5200 controllers or the thumbstick.
- Mouse and keyboard emulation — the trackball and analog stick can act as a USB mouse, and any button can send keyboard keys.
- Five USB emulation modes — Standard, Classic, Nintendo, Legacy, and iOS.
