The Atari 5200 used a unique 15-pin connector and analog keypad signaling that standard USB adapters can’t read directly. Without a compatible bridge, your 5200 controllers — the iconic CX-52 Handheld and the CX-53 Trackball — sit in a drawer, gathering dust. The iCode 5200 Accessory Kit changes that. It plugs into both DB9 ports of your iCode Duo Ultimate H1 and exposes a 15-pin port (or two) on the other side, letting you connect your original 5200 controllers and play them as standard USB gamepads on Windows, Mac, Linux, MiSTer FPGA, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, and any other platform your Duo Ultimate already supports.
The kit ships with two couplers so you can pick the right one for each session. The Single Coupler dedicates both DB9 ports of your Duo Ultimate to one 5200 controller, giving you full access to the analog stick, both fire buttons (Fire A and Fire B), Start, Pause, Reset, and all 12 keypad keys. Use it for single-player games where the 5200’s keypad is essential — Star Raiders, RealSports, Tempest — and any time you want the complete 5200 experience. The Double Coupler uses both DB9 ports to support two 5200 controllers playing simultaneously; sharing the wiring across two controllers trades the keypad for second-player support, opening up authentic 5200 multiplayer for games like Pengo, Zaxxon, and Frogger.
When you plug a coupler into your Duo Ultimate, intelligent on-board circuitry signals the firmware which type is connected, and the matching configuration enables automatically. 5200-specific options appear in the Duo’s on-device menu and the iCodeHub web app, including live LCD overlay for stick deflection and fire/Start/Pause/Reset/keypad activity, sensitivity controls, and full Auto Center support on the CX-53 Trackball for playing stick-only games like Asteroids and Space Invaders. No menu juggling, no separate configuration step — just plug, detect, play.

What’s in the Kit

Couplers Included
iCode 5200 Single Coupler
The Single Coupler dedicates both DB9 ports of your Duo Ultimate to a single Atari 5200 controller, exposing the full 12-key keypad along with the analog stick, both fire buttons (Fire A and Fire B), and Start, Pause, and Reset. Use it for any 5200 game that relies on the keypad — Star Raiders’ navigation grid, RealSports’ play options, Tempest’s level selection — and any time you want to experience the 5200 exactly as it was meant to be played. With both ports dedicated to a single controller, all 12 keypad keys remain individually mappable through the Duo’s on-device menu and iCodeHub.
iCode 5200 Double Coupler
The Double Coupler uses both DB9 ports of your Duo Ultimate to support two Atari 5200 controllers playing simultaneously. Each controller gets its analog stick, both fire buttons (Fire A and Fire B), and Start, Pause, and Reset. Sharing the wiring across two controllers means the keypad is not available in this mode, but the trade-off opens up authentic 5200 multiplayer for games like Pengo, Zaxxon, and Frogger. Plug in the Double Coupler for keypadless two-player sessions; swap to the Single Coupler when you need full keypad access.
Compatibility
The iCode 5200 Accessory Kit is designed exclusively for the iCode Duo Ultimate H1. The kit relies on the Duo Ultimate’s dual-port hardware and 5200-aware firmware (version 2.0 or later — available as a free over-the-air update via iCodeHub). The Uno Ultimate H1-CX (single port) and Duo Ultimate SE H1-CX do not support the 5200 Accessory Kit.
Both couplers are auto-detected by the firmware while the adapter is in 5200 controller or trackball mode, so no separate configuration step is needed when you swap between Single and Double.
